I tried to sign into the app store, but when I clicked on the "sign-in" button, the pointer turned into a hand but nothing happened. I signed in through iTunes and then tried it again, which also failed. I then noticed the purchased apps did not have any photos next to them.
I tried a software update, and there were a number of them that needed to be installed. After reboot, I was able to click on them and update my OS. I also formatted my iMac today wanted to start again but can't donwload iphoto or yosemite when i click the install or download buttons in the app store nothing happens! Have you signed in with your Apple ID and authorized the computer?
Once you sign in, it should download past purchases. I have a friend in the same boat - she just got a used Mac and I am her "helper". It's a mid iMac, on No drop down window that pops into the main window where you can enter your Apple ID or create one if you don't have one. I had her establish her Apple ID and get that party started, still nothing.
Hard to find anything else out there on the web for solutions. She's friends with the people that had the Mac before and they did do some cleaning up the hardware prior to giving it her, but nothing is obvious about fixing this issue.
I asked her to double check with the friends. Glad to know that she's not the only one with this problem. I am having exactly the same problem here. Just a week or so ago everything was working fine. Also, I have two computers, and iMac and a MacBookPro, no firewalls or virus software, and have the same situation on both computers. I think the problem is with Apple, not with my computers.
